Mahdia is a charming fishing port and seaside resort. The medina (old town) lies along a peninsula and is full of merchants of leather goods, silverware, carpets and other traditional crafts. Mahdia is famous for its silk traditions. And do not miss the open air market every Friday, a feast for the eyeand a great exercise in bargaining!
Villa Zouila is at a 10 minutes' walk from one of the most appreciated sandy beaches of Tunisia. The beach has many different areas: immediately where you arrive when walking from our house there is small protective bay where families choose to stay since this area is perfect for small children. A bit further up, more sportive attractions are on offer during the high season: water ski, banana boat and paraglide.
We highly recommend a visit to the Roman amphitheatre in El Jem and a trip to Kairouan, both declared World Heritage by UNESCO. And for people with a sense for adventure, a trip into the Sahara desert will certainly be remembered for a long time!
